New Outside Area At The Royal Hotel

Here at the Royal Hotel we decided to completely overhaul the outside area for our guests to enjoy our Scottish weather!

At the back of the hotel we have landscaped the garden, installed new flower beds, laid a new patio and put in ambient outdoor lighting. This outdoor area is now enhanced with rattan lounge garden furniture, a firepit set and cast aluminium benches.

This is a new garden area that would be great to host weddings receptions, birthdays, stag dos, corporate entertaining or just general outdoor use such as a spring breakfast on the patio. We thank our contractors for their help in forming this wonderful outdoor space. Please feel free to contact any of these companies and there are links to their websites below.

Jardine Leisure – they supplied the 2 cast aluminium garden benches placed at the top of the new lawn. They are a reproduction of a Victorian design, originally manufactured by Coalbrookdale (Brunel’s Ironbridge was made by them). Their factory is in Lancashire, go to Victorian garden furniture.

New Lawn – we completely removed the old scrub and replaced the lawn with turf. This hard wearing variety grass needs little maintenance apart from mowing and was expertly laid by our local turf growers – have a look at

There wasn’t much lighting outside when we first started, just a few dazzling spotlights. We have installed low level ambient lighting which lends atmosphere and the garden at night is now so romantic. We bought the lighting from this very good outdoor lighting company.

We needed a garden design service and planting program for the flower beds around the lawn. These guys at Brown Earth delivered on time, with a wonderful shrub design and an imaginative use of highland heather!

The patio was laid by the Edinburgh Paving Company in a beautiful ancient sandstone.

Finally we needed a fire pit and casual furniture. We chose Outside Edge as they had great prices and could deliver the garden furniture very quickly after the patio was finished.

See you in the garden!
